There is no single flat rate for insulating a shipping container. A 20-foot standard box with a ceiling-only seal costs a fraction of a 40-foot high cube fully encapsulated for climate-controlled storage. Use the calculator above to match your exact configuration before you budget.
Variable 1: Container Length (20ft vs 40ft)
Forty-foot containers have roughly double the wall and ceiling surface area of a 20-foot unit. That directly doubles material and labor for full encapsulation jobs. Ceiling-only pricing also scales with length because the roof panel spans the full container footprint.
Variable 2: Standard vs High Cube Height
High cube containers add approximately 12 inches of interior height. More vertical wall surface means more board feet of foam on full encapsulation jobs. A 20-foot high cube full seal typically runs $300 more than a 20-foot standard at the same scope.
Variable 3: Ceiling Only vs Full Encapsulation
- Ceiling Only: Targets container rain at the primary source—the roof panel. Lowest cost entry point.
- Full Encapsulation (Walls & Ceiling): Seals every corrugation for maximum condensation control and climate stability.
